Abstract (EN)
This study is a technical review of Dimitri Shostakovich's Op. 40 Cello and Piano Sonata which is the only sonata he composed for cello. The introduction of the work tells Shostakovich's characteristic features as a composer, provides information about the important events in his life and the story of the sonata. Some of the research information like the literature, purpose of the study, its limitations and method is also given in this chapter. The second chapter is a brief compilation of Shostakovich's biography. The last chapter is a detailed technical examination of the sonata with illustrations and examples of sort. By this study it is intended to provide a guide for the performance of the sonata.
