Understanding social municipality as a case study on Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Audio Book Library for the Blind Project

Functions of local government services in the field of social policy in Turkey is increasing. Social work practices and projects carried out in this area is becoming increasingly important. Into the process of evolving and changing with globalization, the concept of social policy, in terms of public administration and local governance practices are increasingly important. In this master thesis, the concept of social municipality formed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, audio books within the Library for the Blind project includes a research project investigating on the voluntary participation. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality as a volunteer for the Blind Library to digitize books for readers to be heard, then education, income, gender, age, socio-economic status and implementation of such ideas are analyzed statistically. Also benefiting from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Library for the Blind and visually impaired citizens states to examine the comments and suggestions received were added.
