Abstract (EN)

Social Sciences Courses are being taught permanently from fourth grade to seventhgrade in Elementary Education. Social Sciences Course ,which is being processed 3 hours in aweek , includes a wide subjects flabellum. Although history subjects have a great part inSocial Sciences Courses , they are not being processed in a definite chronological order. Pre-Ottoman Turkish History is just being processed in 6th grade as a unit called ?Turks on theSilk Road? and it is spread on 21 hours. In this unit, Huns, Kök Turks, Uigurs, Karahans,Gaznelis and Seljukis have been processed but other Turkish States have not been taken part.Unfortunately, a student who has graduated from elementary school will know thatthousand-yeared Turkish History only consists of a few states. Radical changes have beenmade in Social Sciences Cirruculum from the period of Republic to now. During all thesechangings, the importance that given to the Turkish History has been decreased day by day.The lectures of Turkish History in Social Sciences Cirruculum have been decreased more ineach changing. An important decreasing has been detected on history subjects , especially onPre-Ottoman Turkish States subjects, although it has been quitted the approach ofmemorization by the change conducted in Social Sciences Cirruculum in 2005. The State ofAnatolian Seljuki, which has given very important helps to the Turkization of Anatolia anddefended both Anatolia and Islamic World against the Crusaders in all four Crusades, has nottaken part in syllabuses. It has been detected that students failed in understanding what were intended by thetime expressions of history subjects in the course books of Social Sciences , and this situationhas been attributed to the unpainstakingness of discourse in course books.Key Words: Social Sciences, Pre-Ottoman Turkish History, Cirruculum, Education, History,Teaching.
