Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to determine the critical thinking disposition level of social studies teacher candidates in terms of different variables. The study were used mixed method. In the qualitative dimension of the study, California Critical Thinking Disposition İnventory was used and ıt was applied 300 social studies teacher candidates Which study in Kastamonu University in the 2014-2015 academic year. Critical thinking dispositions of the candidate teachers were analyzed according to the sub-dimensions of California Critical Thinking Disposition İnventory and according to age, gender, education level of parents and high school type and in come status of the partici-pants. In the qualitative dimension of there search, data were collected through in-class ob-servations. In the 2015-2016 academic year, the 3rd grade students in the material design and teaching lesson, the 4th grade students' applications in the special teac-hing methods-2 lesson, were followed during one term and the in formation obtained was recorded in the observation form. Data obtained through observation were analyzed by content analysis. According to the quantitative results obtained from there search data; According to sub- dimensions of critical thinking inventory of So-cial Studies teacher candidates', no significant difference was found in age, gender, mother education and father education, high school type, come status variables. Ac-cording to the responses given to the test, the average of the analyticity "sub-dimension is higher than the other sub-dimensions. The lowest average was found in the truth-search sub-dimension of the scale. According to qualitative research results; The questions directed by candidate teachers in the preparation phase of the lesson were found to be related to "analyticity", systematicity ", truth-search and self-confidence which are the sub-dimensions of critical thinking. The questions posed by candidate teachers in the transition phase of the lesson are to develop sub-dimensions like "systematicity "," analyticity "," Inquisitiveness" and "open-mindedness". The questions asked to the students in the evaluation stage which is the last stage of lesson were about "analyticity", "truth-seeking", "open-mindedness", "systematicity" and "self-confidence".
