Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between social media dependence and religious attitudes and behaviors of adolescents attending formal education at high school and university. In addition, social media dependency and religious attitudes and behaviors of adolescents attending at high schools and faculties were investigated according to gender, age, faculty, high school, class, place of residence and family income level. In this research, our high school students who were educated in Siirt University and Siirt University in the 2018-2019 academic year were formed. As a sample, in the 2018-2019 academic year, there are 6 high schools in Siirt center and Siirt University Faculty of Theology and other faculties. As a result, in our study on 821 participants, a high level of significant and negative correlation was found between religious attitude and behavior scale and social media dependency scale mean scores. In this case, as social media addiction increases, religious attitudes and behaviors decrease. Keywords Religion, Religious Attitude, Religious Behavior, Adolescence, Social Media, Dependence
