Abstract (EN)

Surveillance has transformed its panoptic structure from past to present. Panopticon depends on space and time limitation, panopticon has a body-oriented and compelling character. Postpanoptic surveillance is independent of time and space limitation as it occurs in digital environments. The focus of postpanoptic surveillance is not the bodies, but the data obtained from them and the observed participate voluntarily in the surveillance. Surveillance appears as "dataveillance" in social media. Among social media platforms Facebook has the highest number of users. Facebook uses the user-generated content for advertising activities and thus realizes capital accumulation. Facebook describes data policy, cookie policy and terms of service on its site. Signing up for Facebook means accepting the terms of use and privacy policies. The data Facebook collects about its users is widespread. Messenger message content, Instagram usage behavior, WhatsApp account information, device information and data from third party partners are included in the collected data. In this study, users' privacy concerns and surveillance awareness about Facebook Data Policy is investigated. As a result of this research, it is found that users' surveillance awareness was low and privacy concerns were high. Surveillance awareness and confidentiality concerns were compared on the basis of different variables and significant differences were reached.
