Socio-economic effects of social assistance: Sample of Şırnak

Poverty and income injustice are one of the biggest problems that mankind have ever experienced. Therefore, countries have a variety of practices in the national and international framework. in order to solve this problems with the effect at social state. One of them is the social aids that are implemented in the contest of provincial and district regionally and are aimed to improving the lives of individuals who have difficulty in living. While the positive aspects of social aids are helping individuals to increase their welfare levels as a result of utilizing from business such as education and health, the negative side is preventing people's participation in employment by reducing their willingness to work. Within this scope, the main purpose of this study is to analyze and interpret how these social aids affect the socio-economic status at families and how they differ in terms of the demographic variables with in frame of determined target population in addition, it was aimed to provide a comparative analysis of the socio-economic status of the families before and after receiving social aids. In the scope of the research, in Şırnak and its district, 405 family who were receiving social aids were interviewed and the status of them were analyzed before and after receiving social aids, the type of aids and the status of family members in terms of employment. Looking at the results of the study, it is possible to say that the social assistance provided within the scope of the sample is effective.
