Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the research is to examine the relationship between the self-control and self-management levels and leadership orientations of sports manager candidates. Another purpose of the study is to compare students' self-control and self-management levels and leadership orientations according to some socio-demographic variables. For the purpose of the study, relational screening method and causal comparison method were used. The population of the research consists of students of Istanbul Gelişim University School of Physical Education and Sports, and the sample consists of 200 volunteer students determined by simple random sampling method. A personal information form, Self-Control and Self-Management Scale and Leadership Orientation scales were applied to the participants. The data obtained was recorded in the SPSS 25 package program. Independent sample T test and Oneway ANOVA analysis were applied as statistical analysis. As a result, it was understood that gender was not a determining variable at the level of self-control, self-management and leadership orientation, and that men and women showed similar characteristics. It was understood that the self-control and self-management sub-dimension of the participants between the ages of 18-22 were at a better level in the self-empowerment dimension. It was also determined that participants between the ages of 18-22 showed a Transformational Leadership orientation. It was determined that there was a difference in the level of self-control and self-management according to the grade variable and that the first grade students were at a better level. It was determined that there were differences in the dimensions of people-oriented leadership, structure-oriented leadership and transformational leadership according to the class variable, and that the students in the first grade were at a better level. It is understood that the class variable does not play a determining role in the charismatic leadership dimension. It was determined that there were weak positive relationships between self-control and self-management levels and leadership orientation.
