Abstract (EN)

This thesis aims to explore how equal opportunities in sports can be created in Türkiye by examining the strategies of international organizations that are based on the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion, starting from the problem statement, and subsequently proposing policy recommendations to remove barriers to access and to enhance sports participation. The research population consists of sports institutions and organizations in Türkiye. The sample of the research consists of gender equality statistics from sports institutions and organizations in Türkiye. Document analysis was used as the data collection method in the research. The strategies and practices of international organizations in the field of sports regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion were revealed, and unstructured interviews were conducted with the top-level executives of these organizations. The policy recommendations derived from these sources, applications, and interviews have provided guidance for planning sports in an equitable manner, independent of barriers hindering sports from reaching all segments of society. The aim is for the policy recommendations to serve as a resource for sports institutions and non-governmental organizations in Türkiye within the framework of a strategic plan. The research investigated how sports can be delivered fairly to different groups under subtopics such as age, gender, disability, ethnic background, belief, geographical location, and income level. In this context, the research concluded that there is a need for planning involving diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.
