Impact of ecotourism awareness on ecotourism perception of Şırnak people

The main purpose of current research is to examine the impact of people's ecotourism awareness on their ecotourism perception in Şırnak, Turkey. In this context, data were collected by questionnaire between April 10 and May 30, 2021 using the quantitative research method. Data were collected through dijital channels and face-to-face interviews. The population of the research consists of local people and people residing in Şırnak province for at least 5 years. Convenience sampling method was used in the research. The sample of the research is people living in Şırnak province (421 participants) who participated in the research representing the research population. As a result of the analyzes, it has been determined that positive awareness of the meaning of ecotourism significantly affects the socio-cultural impact of ecotourism, the economic impact of ecotourism and the environmental impact of ecotourism. However, it was observed that negative awareness of the meaning of ecotourism has not been significantly affected the perception of the effects of ecotourism. On the other hand, it has been found that awareness of ecotourism activities significantly affected the perception of the effects of ecotourism. It has been observed that the research findings are generally in parallel with the literature. At the end of the study, some suggestions were made to scientists and tourism professionals.
