Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the relationship between the anxiety and attitudes of 5th and 8th grade secondary school students living in rural areas towards Mathematics course was examined. A comparison of education between rural areas o the east and west parts of our country was made. This research is based on 5th grade students as the first level and 8th grade as the last level of secondary school. Necessary scale studies were conducted to examine the attitudes and anxiety levels of secondary school students towards Mathematics course. The sample of the study consisted of secondary school students in Pazaryeri district of Bilecik province located in the west of our country and Haliliye district of Şanlıurfa province located in the east of our country. In order to collect data for the study, demographic questions developed by the researcher, Mathematics Attitude Scale and Mathematics Anxiety Scale were applied to 5th and 8th grade students of the secondary school students. As a result of applied statistical analysis; The attitude and anxiety levels towards Mathematics of 5th grade students in Bilecik and Şanlıurfa provinces and of 8th grade students in Bilecik and Şanlıurfa provinces were examined. For the 5th grade students, it was determined that the students in Bilecik province were more anxious about Mathematics course than in Şanlıurfa province and the students in Şanlıurfa province had a negative attitude towards Mathematics. For the 8th grade students, it was observed that the students in Bilecik province had a negative attitude towards Mathematics, while the students in Şanlıurfa province did not have anxiety and negative attitude towards Mathematics.
