Abstract (EN)
In this study, males with renal failure disease (RFD) have been investigated for their systemic leptin and vitamin B12 levels. One hundred and forty male subjects were enrolled in this study, 70 males were diagnosed with RFD while the other 70 males were healthy and used as control. Along with leptin and vitamin B12, the blood of males was analyzed for glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and the serum of males was analyzed for fasting blood sugar (FBS), urea, creatinine, cholesterol, triglycerides (TGs), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity. There were no significant differences in age and body mass index between males with RFD and control. Serum leptin was increased significantly in males with RFD compared to control. Serum vitamin B12 level was decreased significantly in males with RFS compared to control. Moreover, urea, creatinine, cholesterol, TGs levels, and LDH activity were all increased significantly in the serum of males with RFD compared to control. Nevertheless, the levels of FBS and HbA1c were not changed significantly between males with RFD and Control.
