Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between childhood traumas and depression in children dragged into crime. Various demographic characteristics of the participants in the analysis such as age, gender, education level, continuing education status, parental marital status, parent education status, substance use were examined and it was aimed to determine whether there was a statistically significant difference between them. A total of 100 children driven to crime, 25 women and 75 men, participated in the study. Individuals were determined by random sampling and on a voluntary basis. These individuals were asked to fill in the "Beck Depression Inventory", "Childhood Trauma Scale" and the "Sociodemographic Information Form" prepared by the researcher. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 25 program. As a result of the study, while 34% of the children who were driven into crime experienced severe depression, 21% did not have depression. It was found that the levels of depression symptoms in adolescent children driven into crime differ according to the children's age, continuing education status, number of siblings, family income level, parents' education level, domestic forensic case, number of legal files of the child and substance use status. In addition, it was found that emotional neglect scores, one of the sub-dimensions of the childhood trauma scale, differ according to continuing education and the educational status of the parents. As a result of the research, it was determined that there are significant relationships between the depression experiences of children dragged into crime and the childhood trauma scale.
