Abstract (EN)

An earthquake is a phenomenon where the vibration energy that emerges in the earth's crust at an unexpected time moves in waves and shakes the earth's crust. As a result of this shaking on the ground surface, it is seen that the buildings are damaged and destroyed in such a way that they suffer loss of life and property. Various methods have been developed by scientists and applied on structures in order to prevent the structures from being damaged and collapsed. In the research, the performance analyzes of two identical structure that we designed in XTRACK and SAP2000 were made using some earthquake data from the past. After the analyzes made, it was observed that various damages occurred in the structure where the damping system was not used. Then, by adding friction type dampers on the same structure, the earthquake performance of the structure was determined by performing nonlinear performance analysis in the time history again with the earthquake data where the damage was the most. After the study, the seismic performances of identical structures were compared according to strain. As a result of this thesis, it has been observed that the performances of the structures using friction type dampers remain at a limited damage level under the effect of earthquakes.
