Abstract (EN)

X ABSTRACT This study was done to determine the water-salinity-yield function and response to different salinity levels of field bean and salt accumulation in soil profile in fields of Konya Köy Hizmetleri Arastama Enstitüsü during the growing periods of 1992 and 1993. Triple line sprinkler irrigation system was used and different amount of irrigation water and salt levels were applied to plant. The results obtained, showed that there is a function of Yr=100-32.15 (ECe-0.81) between yield and electrical conductivity of soil water. Beyond the threshold level of ECe:0.81 dS/m, grain yields decreased approximately linearly as salinity increased and at ECe:4.0 dS/m, the yield was zero under Konya conditions. The function which is similar to yield-salinity function was obtained between yield, SAR, and ion concentration. Grain size decreased linearly as salinity increased. Accumulation of salt in the soil profile also increased depending on increased the irrigation water salinity. However, it was determined that the winter rainfall caused heavy leaching. Some functions on the accumulation of ions in stem, in leaves, and in pods of plants were calculated depending on salinity and ionic content of soil. The positive relations between soil salinity and salt content in stem and pod were found. It was found that the Na contents of leaves and pods of the field bean increased as Na content of soil increases. The relationship between Na content in stem and soil Na content increased initially and than decreased. Some functions between CI contents in soil and in organs of plant were calculated which increased initially and than decreased. The water-yield function of field bean was obtained and it was determined that the yield response factor Ky and seasonal evapotranspiration were 1.33 and 500 mm, respectively. According to this result, decreasing the evapotranspiration caused higher reduction in the yields.
