Abstract (EN)
In this study, technical provisions made by companies operating in the non-life insurance sector in Turkey were examined in terms of accounting process. The historical development of the insurance in our country, why and how the insurance exists, its functions, its place in human life and commercial life are among the subjects of this study. Why a non-life insurance company makes these provisions, what things are considered when making these provisions, how these provisions are recorded and followed upon accounting are examined and explained with examples. The importance of the concept of provision has also been included in this study. In addition to the examples, year 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 technical provisions of the 5 publicly traded non-life insurance companies operating in Turkey have been included as a case study.
