Abstract (EN)
In this study the aim is, in the framework of technologically supported math education, to explore the usage of alternative measurement materials. This is a quantitative research, and a case study approach was used to conduct the research. The study group used in this study was assigned from the class of 10 A of Merkez Karkamış High School in Karkamış district of the City of Gaziantep in Turkey. At this research, 20-hours-technology assisted lessons were processed on the sub-field of Maths which is Trigonometry. During this 10th grade technologically designed lessons, technological devices such as computers, interactive whiteboards, data shows and some software programs such as Sketchpad, Geogebra, and Graph Calculus and the teaching materials using such software programs were appropriately used. In those lessons both re-designed activities ? to fit the technologically assisted version- which take place in the curriculum of National Education Ministry, and also different newly designed activities were used. In addition to this process, alternative measurement and evaluation methods such as; descriptive branched tree, constructivist grid, concept maps, word-associated test, project and problem solving studies were used to measure and to evaluate students. All the lessons were recorded and the video records of the lessons were analyzed to reveal the level of technology used during the lessons. After carefully observation of alternative measurement instruments used in the process and the findings of their usability; those instruments and the findings were taken place in the study reports. After completion of the process, every single participant was interviewed about the process. Descriptive analysis method was used to analyze the interviews. In this study, it was obtained that students? participation to lessons, their interests and their achievement perceptions positively changed; furthermore, in the evaluation process, it was also observed that students think that alternative measurement process better reflects their achievement and they prefer alternative measurement methods over traditional measurement methods. In the consideration of whole study, it was concluded that technology supported instructions and alternative measurement and evaluation process could be effectively used.Key Words: Technology Supported Instruction, alternative measurement and evaluation, trigonometry, computer mathematics softwares.
