Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of 8-week PNF exercises applied on active muscle groups in tennis serve on service performance by EMG method. A total of 18 volunteer athletes, aged 16-17, who have been training tennis for at least 5 years, and who had parental permission, were included in this study. PNF was randomly divided into two groups as exercise (5 males-4 females) and control group (5 males-4 females). The PNF exercise group was identified as mean age was 16.11±.33 years, their height was 1.74±.09 cm, their body weight was 63.11±8.07 kg, BMI was 20.72±2.21 kg/m2 and athlete's age was 6.67±1.41 years, and the control group as mean age was 16,44±,52 years, their height was 1,70±,07 cm, their body weight was 63,22±9,79 kg, BMI was 21,53±1,92 kg/m2 and athlete's age was 6,00±1,32 years. In this study, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching exercise techniques were applied to the PNF exercise group, 8 weeks and 3 days a week, as well as a tennis training program and additionally at the end of the unit training. Only normal tennis training programs were applied to the control group. In the study, tennis service speed measurement test, Maximum voluntary isometric contractions (MVIC) measurement and Electromyography (EMG) signal measurement tests were measured as pre-test and post-test. As a result of the study, a positive significant difference was found between the groups in the pretest-posttest values of service participation rate of triceps brachii muscle (%) (SPRT) pretest, muscle peak times (ms) sum (MPTS) pretest-posttest and tennis serve speed (km) posttest (p<0.05). In comparison of the groups within themselves, there was a significant difference only in TSCR % value in the pretest-posttest data of the control group, while a positive significant difference was found in deltoid and triceps brachii muscle group Root Mean Square (RMS) of PNF exercise group values, and tennis serve speed (km) values. As a result, it was determined that the PNF exercise techniques applied to the tennis players for 8 weeks improved the muscle strength of the athletes with the EMG method, and at the same time, it was determined that the serving performances were significantly improved.
