Abstract (EN)
Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-B) is the important polypeptide which is expressed from all of the cell types. Various growth factors such as TGF-B play significant roles during wound healing process. There are limited numbers of studies about the effect of exogenous TGF-B administration to oral wound tissue?s oxidative events. That is why we planned to investigate the effects of oral submucosal implanted TGF-B on the oxidative stress of oral wound tissue. In this study we used New Zeland albino rabbits (male, n= 42, 2,5 ±0,4 kg). After submucosal incisions were made the rabbits were divided into two equal groups: 1- Untreated wounds and 2- TGF-B implanted wounds. The rabbits were sacrificed by excess of sodium penthobarbitale anestesia on the 1st, 3rd and 5th days of postwounding. Wound strips were excised immediately. The levels of malondialdehit (MDA) which is identifier of lipid peroxidation, nitric oxide (NOx), glutathione (GSH) and ascorbic acid (AA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were measured by spectrophotometrically. Results were compared by Anova Variance Analysis test. Values of P < 0.05 were considered to be significant. All data were expressed as the mean ± SD.In conclusion, TGF-B aministration elevated MDA, NOx, SOD, AA levels on the 3rd day after wounding.
