Abstract (EN)
In alternative treatments in the world, botanical extracts are used for treatment in many diseases. The fact that our country has different climatic and ecological conditions, Flora contains many plant species and diversity and therefore there are many plant species consumed for medical purposes in our country. Most of these plants have antimicrobial effects and have been reported both in Turkey and abroad. Studies have shown that some plant extracts and essential oils that naturally grow in the soil show antifungal activity against fungi as well as bacterial activity. Antimicrobial effects of these extracts against Stenotrophomonas maltophilia bacteria and DNA protective activity were studied. The antimicrobial activity was tested Disk Diffusion method. DNA protecting activity was studied using H2O2 and UV-C using pBR322 plasmid DNA. Water and Methanol extracts did show antimicrobial activity on bacteria. On the other hand They showed a high activity in terms of DNA protective activity.
