Abstract (EN)
It is observed that 3rd generation of European citizens who are originally from Turkey perform a brain drain to Turkey. In this context, this study aims to investigate the effects of identity, belonging, culture, dual citizenship, economic and other reasons on the decision of 3rd generation European Turks to migrate to Turkey. The study will analyze the challenges faced by the target groups and the factors that ease their daily life through making a cross- evaluation on the axis of belonging. In this context, semi-structured interviews were conducted and studies were carried out on the basis of interpretive sociology. Particularly stressing the sense of belonging in the migration decision of the target group, especially the effects of the socialization areas such as the family and school on the formation of the individuals' identity are analyzed. Within this framework it is observed that household is being more associated with the Turkish culture whereas school contributes to the intellectual capital however, is identified with discriminative symbolic values. Therefore it is recorded that the sense of belonging is low in European countries while it is high in Turkey. The European Turks created the collective identity network they established abroad in Turkey since this network enables the target group the opportunity to freely express the identity. Individuals stated that they have the most problem of accessing public services in Turkey, whereas public services are accessible, informative and cheap in Europe. In this context it is evaluated that it is not easy for the individual to adapt to the system and give up their habits after coming to Turkey. The individual who faced discrimination in Europe found a field to express especially their national and religious identity after coming to Turkey. Apart from that, migrating to Turkey provided opportunity to reconsider the borders of the individual's belonging and identity through dual citizenship and cultural values.
