Analysing Turkish tweets with the keyword "medical education": Network analysis study

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine how the society reacts to the issues related to medical education through twitter, which is an important social media tool that is seen as an important tool for sharing different opinions and ideas. In the study, using the concept of "medical education" through MAXQDA, 26250 tweets were accessed between 21.03.2021-18.07.2021 and 13835 tweets made by data cleaning process for social network analysis constituted the sample. The tweets obtained were classified according to the subject areas, retweeting times and the duration of being on the agenda were evaluated in line with some measurement parameters used in social network analysis. As a result of the research, 85% of the tweets related to medical education were retweeted, the issue that was most frequently brought to the agenda and retweeted was the issue of medical education with transition without exams in the field of international relations and education, and the issue that remained on the agenda for the longest time was the tweets about the structure of medical education, Among all user accounts, the account of @adenelm, an expert in the field of medicine, has a higher degree of internal centrality and prestige, the account of @AkSultans, which has betweenness centrality, provides information and communication control, field experts in professional issues and political identities in the field of international relations and education share more content, It was determined that the weight of the accounts from the field of communication tools/media was higher, the groups formed on the subject of medical education had a high stratification value and were specialised within themselves, the most talked about subject within the communities was international relations and education, the three subject areas that users reacted the fastest were medical education financing, medical education and religion, and medical education and violence, respectively, the subject that received the most intense and shortest reaction was international relations and education, the highest average in terms of Retweet average was the field of professional competence and belonging, and the lowest average was the subject of medical education financing.
