An evaluation on the quality of tradition of Trabzon Solakli valley in contemporary mosque

Located in the Eastern Black Sea, Trabzon has rich examples in the history of rural mosques. Before making the regional valley, it is possible to come across a variety of different types of rural mosques. It is seen that after the 1960s, the engineer detached from tradition in mosques in the countryside. Examining the reasons of the rural mosque architecture that is disconnected from this tradition will provide an interpretation of the change. In this thesis, Solaklı Valley of Trabzon region was chosen as the research area. The reason for this valley is chosen because of the rich and varied mosque architecture in the region. The aim of this study was to compare the traditional rural mosques, which were built until 1960, and the mosques, which were built after 1960, in terms of materials, architectural structure, plan scheme, decoration and top cover / ceiling structures. In this context, the typology, form, construction technique and material structure of rural mosques in the region were compared in order to express the changes in the architecture of rural mosques in the Solaklı Valley of Trabzon. In this way, the reasons of the dramatic break in the architecture of rural mosque built after 1960 were tried to be examined.
