the relationship between the MMPI-2 profiles of individuals diagnosed with COVID-19, the level of traumatic stress symptoms and post-traumatic development

The aim of this study is to examine the factors affecting the post-traumatic development levels of individuals diagnosed with covid-19, and to determine the relationship between personality and post-traumatic stress with post-traumatic development. Therefore, in this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between the MMPI-2 profiles of individuals diagnosed with covid-19, the level of traumatic stress symptoms and post-traumatic development. The universe of this research consists of patients living in Istanbul, who have positive Covid-19 tests applied by the Ministry of Health as of March 2020. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 96 participants, 55 women and 41 men living in Istanbul, where the Covid-19 tests applied by the Ministry of Health as of March 2020 and who meet the inclusion criteria of the study. Personal Information Form was used as data collection tools to determine demographic characteristics, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-2) to determine personality traits, Post Traumatic Development Inventory to determine posttraumatic development level, and Traumatic Stress Symptom Scale to determine traumatic stress symptoms. Before starting data analysis, the collected data was sent to computer environment and statistical analysis was made with SPPS 25 program. The normality test, which is the first step of the analysis, was applied and the kurtosis-skewness values were checked. Since Kurtosis-Skewness values are between -2 and +2, it was decided to be a normal distribution. The reliability level was determined as 95%. T-Test was used to analyze the difference between two independent variables. ANOVA analysis was applied to analyze the difference between multiple groups. Pearson Correlation analysis was used for the relationship between two or more variables. Using Multiple Linear Regression, the effect of independent variables on the dependent variable was observed. As a result of the study, it was determined that there was a negative relationship between depression, psychosis, and social introversion scores, which are among the MMPI-2 clinical scales, and post-traumatic development, and a positive relationship with the post-traumatic symptom scale. It was determined that there was a negative relationship between the anxiety, depression, obsessiveness, health concerns and family problems subscales of the MMPI-2 content scales and post-traumatic development and a positive relationship with the post-traumatic symptom scale. One of the MMPI-2 complementary scales, there is a significant relationship between ego power and post-traumatic growth and post-traumatic stress symptoms. These results are discussed in the light of the relevant literature in this part of the study.
