Syrians in The Turkish History (1880-1938)

Syrians whose origins go to old Mesopotamia, is the first clan which embraced Christianity. As well as it is controversial where their origins come from, it wouldn?t be wrong to say that Syrian expression was used to separate them from idolater Aramean after embracing Christianity, Syrians assembled in the structure of Antakya Church and this assembly had an ethnic and religious form. In the period of Christological arguments related to nature of Chris became more violent; some disagreements aroused in Antakya Syrian Church and as a consequence of these disagreements some groups appeared which defends different opinions related to Chris?s nature as well as being Syrian origin.Syrians, who experienced great bloodbaths in Byzantium Empire Period, continued their lives in the status of zımmi when the land they were living was conquered by Ottoman Empire. Since the period Ottoman Empire weakened they started to act against the government in the consequence of activities of missionaries who was sent to the region depending on imperialist policies of Western Countries. Nestorian Syrians also named as Yakubis who were different from Syrian Anchients waged war against the Ottoman Empire in the capacity of small ally of Russia and England but at the end of the war the promise to establish a Syrian State was broken by western countries. Besides the ones who lost their lives during the war, many Syrians died who lived in bad conditions in the camps or the places they emigrated after war.In our present day heavy results of this war is described as genocide especially by Syrians who emigrated to abroad from our country since 1960?s. But these claims haven?t been based on any scientific resource.There are supporting activities of Western Countries for Syrians. Western Countries continuing their efforts to create Assyrian identity which they started in 19th century in Syrian Diaspora living especially in Sweden, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, France and America, try to make them get a consciousness of becoming a nation by abolishing denominational differences uniting all the Syrians under identity of Assyrian.The thing that we can say about the condition of the Syrians who live in Turkey and the ones who want to come back to Turkey is that the reality of our Syrian citizens who are loyal to homeland and state are richness of this country and the necessity of avoiding from prejudiced behaviors.
