The situation of woman in the turkish society and the education of it in social sciences lesson

The purpose of this research is to inspect the situation of the Turkish Woman througout the history and to determine whether there is a reasonable relation between the attitudes of the 6th class students at primary school to the situation of the Turkish Woman in the society and the Social Science lesson. Another purpose is to determine how this changes according to social and economic circumference and the sex.Quantifying research method has been followed in this research. The studying and class book of Social Sciences 6th class and its teacher?s book, which were approved by the Education andTeaching Commission, have been inspected. After a searching, survey questions were prepared paralel to the point ?Towards Equalty? in the chapter ?Adventure of Democracy? which is in Social Science 6th class book. The survey was applied to the 6th class students selected.The scope of this research includes the 6th class student of state schools in Ankara and samples include each of the 6th classes of the randomly selected (random method) state primary schools in Cankaya, Etimesgut and Sincan.In the level of collecting data in this research, Socio-Economic Situation Survey was made to determine the socio-economic situations of the students, Attitude Scale was made to measure the attitude of them towards Social Science lesson, Pre-test and Final-test were applied to them to measure their attitudes towards the situation of woman in Turkish society. After having the subject, the information survey was applied to measure what they had learned about the subject in the Social Science class.The scales used for collecting quantifying data in this research, are used to measure the attitudes of the students towards Social Sciences lesson, their interest in the situation of woman in the Turkish society and their awareness level of this issue.The results of the survey which was applied to the 6th class students were evaluated according to SPSS 15.0 programme.Paralel to the data collected, the results of the attitude scale applied in order to measure their attitudes towards Social Sciences lesson were compared with the results of the pre-test and final-test applied about the situation of woman in the Turkish society. The view of the students who are well-interested in Social Sciences lesson and those who are less interested on the point of woman in the Turkish society and also its condition according to the sex and the socio-economic circumference have been aimed to study.As a result of this research:1.It was seen that the students interested in Social Sciences lesson have positive thoughts on woman in the Turkish society.2.When searched for the fact that whether the attitudes of the 6th class students towards the situation of woman in the Turkish society differs according to the sex and the school factor, it was seen that their attitudes differ. When this difference was studied according to the sex, it was seen in favour of girl-students and when studied according to school factor it was seen in favour of the students of Ayten Saban Diri Primary School.3.When searched for the fact that whether the awareness level of the 6th class students towards the situation of woman in the Turkish society differs according to the sex and the school factor, it was seen that their attitudes differ. When this difference was studied according to the sex, it was seen in favour of girl-students and when studied according to school factor it was seen in favour of the students of Ayten Saban Diri Primary School which is at up-socio-economic level.4.When searched for the fact that whether the woman matters, in which the 6th class students are interested, differs according to the sex and the school factor, it was seen that there occurs a reasonable difference between boy and girl students. When this difference was studied according to the sex, it was seen in favour of boy-students and when studied according to school factor it was seen in favour of the students of Dr. Yildiz Yalcinlar Primary School which is at sub-socio-economic level. It was seen that the students of Dr. Yildiz Yalcinlar Primary School differed reasonably from the two other schools in view of the woman affairs they care.5.When looked at the fact that whether the data survey total scores of the 6th class students about the situation of woman in the Turkish society differs according to the sex and the school factor, it was seen that there occurs a reasonable difference between boy and girl students. It was seen in favour of boy-students. According to the school factor, it was Ayten Saban Diri Primary School whose data survey total scores were the highest score.6.When searched for the fact that whether the attitude scale pre-test and final-test averages of the 6th class students about the situation of woman in the Turkish society differs according to the sex and the school factor:According to the sex factor, for boy and girl students, the awareness level of the 6th class students towards the situation of woman in the Turkish society does not differ reasonably. A reasonable difference was seen in favour of the final-test at the averages of the results of the pre-tests and final-tests on the woman issues that girl students care.According to the school factor, the awareness level of the 6th class students of Dr. Yıldız Yalçınlar Primary School towards the situation of woman in the Turkish society does not differ reasonably. A reasonable difference was seen in favour of the final-test at the averages of the results of the pre-tests and final-tests on the woman issues that the students care.When looked at the attitudes of the 6th class students of Dumlupınar Primary School and Ayten-Şaban Diri Primary School towards the situation of woman in the Turkish society, a reasonable difference was not seen at their awareness level of the situation of woman in the Turkish society and at the averages of their pre-test and final-test results the woman issues that they care.In view of these findings, suggestions for the situation of woman in the Turkish society and teaching of it at Social Sciences lessons were made.
