Examination of morphological and spatial change in residential architecture between 1920-2020 in turkey

In residential buildings in different geographies and cultures, changes can be seen in spatial constructions and meanings with the mentality, the living conditions and social appreciation of the period in which they belong during the years of construction. In this study, residential architecture in Turkey, pre-1920.,1920-1930, 1930-1940, 1940-1950, 1950-1960, 1960-1970, 1970-1980, 1980-1990, 1990-2000, 2000-2010, 2010-2020 ten years in residential architecture are handled annually and is intended to demonstrate change and transformation. Morphological features and issues related to spatial relations were discussed in the study, which was carried out on the examples in the literature belonging to these periods. Within the framework of the periods examined in the first part of the study, samples of dwellings reached in the context of the literature were determined and preliminary determinations of these samples were made. In the second part, identification cards of the determined samples, which is totally 61, selected from among the housing samples recorded in the literature in accordance with the purpose of the study were considered morphologically. The selected samples analyzed based on the whole list of the buildings has been classified as single dwellings, apartments, mass dwellings, sites, residences in accordance with their the morphological features. In the third part, the spatial constructs are examined by creating triangular relationship matrices belonging to a certain number of samples belonging to each period, and the research findings are revealed with graphic descriptions. In the conclusion part, findings and recommendations obtained depending on the subject are given in line with all research and analysis.
