Abstract (EN)
Digital art involves the types of art where the output is digital, the process of producing the artwork or project requires technological tools, or the subject itself is digital. This dissertation, titled "The Emergence and Development of Digital Art in Turkey", examines digital art as an artistic genre in a chronological manner, first approaching the history of Digital Art in a broad perspective and then focusing on Turkey in particular. The art forms of the increasingly more digital world first emerged in Turkey at the beginning of the 20th century. Its influence first spread in mediums such as digital painting or photography and later expanded into others. In this context, the dissertation examines the trends that influenced digital art, the changes in viewpoints on art after the invention of the camera, and reviews the current day state of digital art, before identifying digital artists in Turkey and their works. Another subject that the dissertation takes into consideration is NFTs, a new branch of digital art, aiming to compile information and to determine the current state of NFTs in Turkey. The study examines the roots of digital art, after which it leans into the subjects of digitalization and digital art. A brief history of Modern Art in Turkey precedes the main section focusing on the evolution of digital art in Turkey, its artists and their productions. Keywords: Art History, Digital Art, New Media
