Examining the efficiency of the high school of sports in Turkey with data envelopment analysis and determining improvement targets

The aim of this research is to examine the activities of non-thematic, similar quality high schools that can be compared with each other among the sports high schools operating in Turkey, using the data envelopment analysis method. In the selection of sports high schools constituting the research group, sports high schools with 4 years or more graduates were preferred and a total of 8 sports high schools, which presented their data and were valid, were included in the research. The activities of the mentioned sports high schools in the 2021-2022 Academic Year were examined. Frontier Analyst program was used to analyze the analysis. The inputs and outputs of the activities of sports high schools were processed. student, teacher, gym, classrooms, higher education institutions providing sports education placement rate. In accordance with the CCR and BCC models of these sports high schools with similar characteristics, two models suitable for both fixed scale return and variable scale return were examined in an output-oriented manner. As a result of the examination made in the CCR model, it was determined that four of the eight sports high schools were effective. Using the other BCC model, six of the eight schools were effective. As a result of the profiles of the students placed in the schools and the infrastructure levels obtained, it was seen that the schools with a low number of students among the schools that provide education in schools of similar quality tolerate this situation despite the lack of facilities, fields and materials.
