Abstract (EN)
The concept of patient rights; developing in recent years illuminated by the concepts of human rights, individual rights, freedom and consumer rights, is a rising value in health care presentation as a concrete result of the mentioned concepts. The purpose of this study is to conduct a comprehensive research on awareness, perception and implementation of patient rights and responsibilities in Turkey. The study aims to assess the doctors' and patients' general perceptions of patient rights, and to reflect the participants' level of awareness of patient rights within the context of a concept which has emerged in the name of ''Patient Responsibilities'' in Turkey recently. The study sample consisted of doctors serving in varied specialties and patients struggling with different diseases, and within the scope of the research semi-structured interviews regarding patient rights and responsibilities were conducted with the participants. Themes obtained after content analysis of interviews aim to reflect the knowledge and perceptions of patients and doctors regarding patient rights and responsibilities.
