Analysis of the realitionship between public healt expenditures and selected macroeconomic variables after 2001 in Turkey

In this study, the analysis of the relationship between public health expenditures in Turkey and selected macroeconomic variables after 2001 is discussed. The impact of the 2001 crisis on macroeconomic variables was explained with graphs, and a comparative analysis of the public sector health expenditures of OECD countries and selected OECD countries and Turkey during the Covid-19 Pandemic period was made. Turkey's public sector health expenditures and macroeconomic variables between 2001 and 2021 were discussed separately with graphs and finally examined in a comparative manner. It has been determined that public sector health expenditures have increased, economic growth has increased, inflation has increased and unemployment has increased. It was determined that the real effective exchange rate decreased. The main purpose of this study, public health expenditures in Turkey between 2001 and 2020, was analyzed by graphical method with selected macroeconomic variables. According to the analysis results, an increase in the share allocated to public health expenditures is observed in OECD countries and Turkey during the 2001 crisis and 2008 crisis periods. The increase rate of public health expenditures in OECD countries during the 2020 pandemic period was higher than the share allocated to public health expenditures by Turkey. During the epidemic period and economic crises that affected the whole world, OECD countries and Turkey increased their public health expenditures within the scope of combating the epidemic and crisis, which had a great impact on almost every aspect of the economy.
