Opinions of lecturers about the copy applications from the art works in art education undergraduate programs in Turkey

Copy method has been applied from the past to the present and constitutes a matter of debate from the points of view of the art educators. Therefore setting forth of the opinions of the lecturers who attend to studio painting courses in B.A., is aimed in this research. A qualitative research model was used in the research. Semi-structured interviews were made with total 16 lecturers who attend to studio painting classes in the Art Education department of Anadolu, Gazi, and Marmara Universities within this frame. Further the opinions of the lecturers who teach these classes in Art Education departments throughout Turkey besides these universities were determined by way of a 17-question survey. A total of 21 lecturers stated their opinions by way of the survey. The data obtained were analysed by means of descriptive analysis. As the result of the evaluation of the findings reached, it may be said that copy method keeps its importance in studio art instruction and is still an issue of debate for the lecturers who participated in this study.
