Political parties and voter behaviour dynamics in Türkiye: Analysis of the İYİ Party

This thesis aims to analyze voter behaviors, political participation, and political parties in Turkiye, with a specific focus on the İYİ Party. The study is conducted to comprehend the dynamic nature of political parties and voter behavior in Turkiye. It delves into understanding the political identity of the İYİ Party and analyzing its voter base. The emergence of new political parties in Turkiye is attributed to the increasing polarization and confrontational political approach, leading to representation challenges for certain social groups. The İYİ Party was founded with the goal of providing an alternative for voters within this political context. The primary problem addressed in this thesis is to determine the position of the İYİ Party among Turkish political parties in terms of its represented ideology and formulated policies. Additionally, it seeks to understand whether the ideology it represents entails innovation and to examine and analyze the impact of these factors on voter behaviors. In this context, the study conducts an extensive literature review on political parties, voter behaviors, and political participation, establishing a conceptual framework. The historical background, political ideology, position in politics, identity crisis, voter campaigns, and policies of the İYİ Party are scrutinized and interpreted. The study sheds light on the ever-changing dynamics of political parties and voter behaviors in Turkiye, offering insights into the unique case of the İYİ Party. Through a thorough analysis of its history, ideology, and policies, the thesis aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the evolving political landscape in Turkiye.
