Abstract (EN)

Values education is a process that aims to support and strengthen individuals' personal and social lives. By developing moral and ethical awareness in individuals, it lays the foundation for positive behaviors that continue throughout life. For this reason, values education is an educational process that should be provided meticulously both in the family and at school. In line with this necessity, the present study aims to examine the works of Çetin Öner in terms of the twenty values included in the Common Text of the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Model Curriculum. A review of the relevant literature reveals that studies based on the new curriculum model are limited. In addition, the fact that Çetin Öner's works have not previously been examined in terms of the values included in the model highlights a gap in the literature, which this study seeks to address. Within the conceptual framework of the study, the concept of value, the importance and function of values, their characteristics and classification, values education, and the place of values education in the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Model are first discussed. In the second section, the definition and scope of children's literature, its importance in terms of values education, and Çetin Öner are examined. Subsequently, Çetin Öner's works are analyzed in terms of the twenty values included in the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Model. Using the document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, the behaviors presented in the works are examined in terms of their level of alignment with the attitudes and behaviors included in the virtue–value–action framework of the Common Text of the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Model Curriculum. As a result of the study, it was found that the value of love stands out prominently in Çetin Öner's works, and that love for nature and animals is emphasized in almost all of his works. However, the values of patriotism, cleanliness, and privacy were found to be considerably insufficient. In this respect, it was concluded that although the analyzed works of Öner are generally compatible with the values included in the Common Text of the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Model Curriculum, some values remain inadequate for educational purposes. Therefore, it is suggested that other authors and literary works should also be utilized in the values education process.
