Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the structural effects of bird strikes on aircraft wings were investi gated under different velocities and impact angles using the Smooth Particle Hydro dynamics (SPH) method. Due to its mesh-free structure, SPH has the potential to pro duce more realistic results compared to finite element methods in modeling events involving sudden impacts and high deformations. In the study, the analyses were car ried out using ANSYS Autodyn software; the bird was modeled as a 1.8 kg seagull with SPH particles, while the wing was modeled with a NACA0012 profile made of Al5083-H116 material. The research was designed in three stages: In the first stage, a total of 30 scenarios were analyzed at different angles in the vertical and horizontal planes and at velocities of 80, 160, and 240 m/s; it was observed that the damage reached critical levels at high velocities and perpendicular angles, while the structural integrity was largely pre served at low velocities and oblique angles. In the second stage, the rib thickness was changed as 4, 5, and 6 mm, and it was determined that 5 mm thickness provided an optimum balance between stiffness and energy absorption. In the third stage, the num ber of ribs was increased, resulting in a more homogeneous load distribution; however, it was found that the distance of the impact point from the support was still a decisive factor. This study not only evaluates the effects of bird strikes but also fills an important gap in the literature by holistically examining the effects of different structural parameter combinations on impact resistance. The results obtained provide original engineering data that can be used in design optimizations to increase the impact resistance of air craft wings.
