Abstract (EN)
The Turkish-Russian relations have a structure which is formed by different paradigms especially the period after 1991. While the two countries' views on regional issues affected their political relations, they also maintained economic relations on the one hand. Since 2000, a closer political and economic relationship has begun. The main actor in this process was the energy supply and the economic environment created by the supply-demand relationship of the two countries. For Turkey, Russia has become a major energy provider country. For Russia, Turkey meant both a significant market and a different route for the European energy market. In addition to this, many visits between the two countries, especially between the years 2009 and 2012, have transformed political relations into a strategic partnership. However, the relations, which are at the best level of history until the Aircraft Crisis in 2015, have a worse 9-month process even after the cold war. This study will focus on the Turkish-Russian political and economic relations from the dissolution of the Soviet Union until 2015 and discuss the role and effects of the Aircraft Crisis in 2015 on these relations.
