International migration and intercultural opening of health services Antalya example

International migration movements have become a global phenomenon affecting the whole world. Today, the development of mass media, free movement of goods, services and people, terrorism, conflict, war, economic reasons and employment problems continue to affect the whole world by increasing mass human mobility. This effect has brought with it new forms of relations and communication in societies, and new formations in the discipline of public administration. The need for equal access to public services without language, religion and cultural barriers to adapt to the country of immigration has been the subject of discussion in international platforms. Access to health services, which is one of the most important areas in public services, can be difficult due to cultural differences. In this study, the access to health services of foreigners' living within the borders of Antalya province as a result of international migration movements was evaluated. Conducted with 505 person within the framework of interculturally sensitive health service models, it is aimed to search for foreigners to access health services more effectively, the barriers to access and the solutions to overcome these barriers. In the study, literature review on international migration and migration theories, migration and migration policies in the perspective of Europe and Turkey were evaluated. Case studies on the access of foreigners to health services, structures at the national level and the case of Akdeniz University Medical Faculty Hospital International Patient Unit in Antalya province are mentioned. In the field study, the quantitative research method SERVQUAL (Service Quality Perception of Measurement) was preferred and the access to health services of foreigners living within the provincial borders of Antalya was evaluated. In the model created, the relationship between these three levels was examined by taking the health service quality evaluation as the main variable, the access level of foreigners to health services as the dependent variable, and the patient satisfaction level as the independent variable. The hypotheses created that the arrangements for intercultural opening, which were created by making use of the literature in the access of foreigners living in Antalya to health services, affect the quality of health services and that there is a relationship between them, were confirmed.
