A Study on Umit Yasar Oguzcan's Life, His Peoetical Ability and the Themes in His Poems this study aims at revealing the place of the poet in Turkish literature, determining the literary value of his works and the facts that should be known about him. With this purpose; describing the poet's life in a great detail and disclosing personal and social themes in his verses are the main themes of this study. Umit Yasar Oguzcan (1926-1984), who started writing poetry in the 1940's, became a prominent figure in the field of lyric poetry, and satire in which themain subjects were love, women, separation, death and helplessness. Oğuzcan was one of the poets who developed his own style because he did not belong to any group of literary movements. There are 37 published poetry books, 4 prose books, 15 anthologies, compilation and biography books. He is also known for his galleries, prose, plaques, and his compositions.
