Abstract (EN)

Introduction: Especially the 20s are known as the ages when sexual thoughts and needs mature. This period, which is seen as the beginning of the first sexual experiences, can be considered as an important examination phase in sexual problems. Some factors such as society, environment, socio-economic level, and customs play an important role in shaping sexual satisfaction. It is known that these factors are related to the development of sexual identity of the individual and the sexual satisfaction of the person in the future. Psychological well-being is thought to be explained by many factors in this age range. It has been reported that there may be a significant relationship between psychological well-being and sexual satisfaction in the individual. Purpose: To examine the relationship between sexual satisfaction and psychological well-being of university students. Materials and Methods: Using easy sampling selection, 300 university students studying in Istanbul were included in the study. Psychological Well-Being and Golombok-Rust Sexual Satisfaction Scale were used as data collection tools. The scales were applied on the online platform. Findings: In the findings, a significant difference was found between the sexual satisfaction scores of the participants according to the variables of having a sexual partner and living place. In addition, it was observed that there was a significant difference between the psychological well-being scores of the participants according to the variables of gender, maternal education level, chronic illness and psychological disorder. Finally, as a result of the correlation analysis, significant relationships were found between sexual satisfaction and psychological well-being scores. Conclusion: It was determined that as individuals' psychological well-being scores increased, their sexual satisfaction scores increased. In order to compare the data, it is necessary to conduct follow-up studies with a larger sample, including young people from many regions of our country.
