Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the validity and reliability of the Forgotten Joint Score (FJS-12) in lower extremity amputees. Lower limb amputees aged 18-65 years, who used prosthesis for at least 6 months and volunteered to participate were included in the study. The adaptation of amputees with the prosthesis was evaluated with the "Trinity Amputation and Prosthesis Experience Scale" (TAPES), the perception of physical appearance with the "Amputee Body Image Scale" (ABIS) and artificial limb awareness was evaluated with the FJS-12. The correlation of FJS-12 with TAPES and ABIS was examined to determine external construct validity. The reliability of FJS-12 was determined by test-retest method. Internal consistency analysis was tested with Cronbach's α. Seventy-five amputees were included in the study (mean age: 37.81±11.22 years; BMI: 25.88±3.86 kg / m2). FJS-12 was applied again to 20 of the participants two week later. While there was statistically significant and good negative correlation between FJS-12 and activity limitation sub-parameter of TAPES (r=-0.632; p<0.001); A statistically significant and low-moderate correlation was found with satisfaction sub-parameter of TAPES (r=0.354; p=0.002), there was statistically significant and moderate negative correlation with the ABIS (r=0.469; p<0.001) There was no statistically significant correlation between FJS-12 and psychosocial adaptation sub-parameter of TAPES (r=0.117; p=0.316). The intra-class reliability coefficient showing the reliability of FJS-12 was 0.937. The internal consistency of the FJS-12 was high (Cronbach's α=0.943). The results of this study showed that the UES-12 is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to assessment of adaptation to prosthesis and artificial limb awareness in amputees.
