Abstract (EN)

This research was designed as a quasi-experimental to determine the effects of low fidelitysimulation, computer based simulation and virtual reality simulation methods used in urinary catheterization training on the skills, satisfaction and selfconfidence of first-year nursing students. The sample of the study was determined by randomization; It consisted of a total of 156 students in three groups: low fidelity simulation (n = 52), computerbased simulation (n = 52) and virtual reality simulation (n = 52). The data of the study were collected using the Personal Information Form, Urinary Catheterization Skill Checklist, Simulation Design Scale and Analysis Session Guide. After the theoretical lesson, the students were divided into three groups and each group experienced urinary catheterization with a different simulation method. The video-recorded skill performances were watched with the students in the analysis session and feedback was given to them. Then, the students filled out the data collection forms. The data obtained in the research were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 program. Students' skill levels from highest to lowest; It was determined that they were listed as virtual reality simulation group, low fidelity simulation group, computer-based simulation group and there was a statistically significant difference between their mean scores. It was determined that the students' satisfaction and self-confidence total score averages were similar in the virtual reality simulation group and the low fidelity simulation group, and were significantly higher than the computer-based simulation group. These findings obtained from the research showed that it is not appropriate to use computer-based simulation method in urinary catheterization training of first-year nursing students.
