The concept of obedience in Uigur and Karakhanid Turkish

The ruling and the ruled are two important elements of the system of a state. Obeying the ruling is one of the fundamental qualities of this system. Also in religious meaning, the concept of obedience is situated in the centre of the system, just as it is in political meaning. It is necessary for believers to obey the creator willingly. This concept, situated in the centre of all religions and the systems of the state, is an important and invariable element of the oldest known periods of Turkish law. Determining the words formed the conceptual field of obedience on the vocabulary of Manichaean Uigur works named Huastuanift, Irk Bitig and Manichaean Uigur Texts; on the vocabulary of Buddhist Uigur works named Altun Yaruk, The Biography of Xuanzang in Old Uigur and Uc Itigsizler; and on the vocabulary of Karakhanid Turkish works named Kutadgu Bilig, Atebetu'l-Hakayık and First Turkish Kor'an Translation (The copy of Rylands), it has been our principal aim to determine the presence of this conceptual field firstly and to reveal the place of obedience in the mentality of this period. Initially the formations about the states of Uigur and Karakhanid, their beliefs and works, then the formations were given about "concept", not identified completely yet, and the lexical field (conceptual field) theory situated in the theoretical base of our work. Later, the concept of obedience was explained briefly. Finally, all words determined in the works and formed the conceptual field of obedience were categorized as tables including different meaning categories and gained some kind of conclusions regarding all information.
