Use of distance education systems; the case of Uludag University

The costs of formal education systems are higher than those of distance education systems. Materials such as the classrooms needed for formal education, the needs of the classes, heating costs, expenditures of the students on the way to and from the institutions, etc. direct these institutions to the information sector. This orientation relaxes the institutions regarding cost and enables the students to take their place and time in their own education and also the academicians can make their pieces of training with comfortable and technological virtual platforms without having to communicate with the students in time and space easily. In this study, the use of the UKEY system, which Uludag University integrates with the formal education systems, will be examined within the framework of the technology acceptance model.
