Abstract (EN)
The social and spatial structures of cities have significant impacts on the quality of life of their inhabitants. Socio-spatial segregation is a spatial reflection of inequalities in urban areas, playing a decisive role in user satisfaction. Researchers spatial segregation is a product of the capitalist system and is closely related to the social structure of cities. This study examines the relationship between socio-spatial segregation and user satisfaction based on data from user satisfaction surveys conducted in the İkinisan and Şabaniye regions of Van province. This research investigates the relationship between socio-spatial segregation and user satisfaction using data from user housing satisfaction surveys conducted in the İkinisan and Şabaniye regions of Van province. Data were collected from a total of 202 households, including demographic characteristics, household structure, housing satisfaction, and socio-economic status. The findings demonstrate the effects of socio-spatial segregation on user housing satisfaction and highlight the differences between the two regions. Housing satisfaction is higher in the İkinisan region, which can be explained by socio-economic factors and spatial differences. The higher housing satisfaction in İkinisan is linked to the region's socio-economic advantages and spatial arrangements. The findings show that housing satisfaction is higher in the İkinisan region, possibly due to its more advantageous socio-economic position. Participants in the İkinisan region reported being more satisfied with the prestige and condition of their housing. In contrast, satisfaction rates were found to be lower in the Şabaniye region. These findings confirm the impact of socio-spatial segregation on user satisfaction, concluding that economic inequalities and spatial differences significantly affect user satisfaction. Additionally, housing satisfaction is related not only to physical and environmental factors but also to socio-economic and demographic variables, suggesting that this multidimensional approach should be considered in urban planning and housing policies. The findings provide important feedback for housing project planning and urban policy formation, emphasizing the importance of spatial planning and social policies in urban development processes. To reduce socio-spatial segregation and increase user housing satisfaction, it is crucial to develop more balanced and inclusive planning approaches.
