Abstract (EN)

Many developments in the economic, cultural, social, political and technological fields in the history of humanity have closely affected and continue to affect individuals, their lives, personality traits, perspectives on events, value judgments, perceptions, attitudes and expectations. The reactions, beliefs, attitudes and expectations of individuals who have encountered different events in different time periods and who have been affected by these events also differ according to the conditions of the period in which they live. As a natural consequence of this situation, generational and intergenerational differences occur. In the most general sense, it is possible to define the concept of generation as a group of people who were born and grew up in the same date range, were affected by positive and negative events in this interval, gave similar reactions and had similar experiences. When the generation classifications made by different authors at different times around the world are examined, 5 different generations are encountered in the main. These; The Silent Generation is called the Baby Boomers Generation, Generation X, Generation Y and Generation Z. While the concept of career refers to the work-related experiences people have gained throughout their lives and their success in the profession, the concept of career expectation refers to the attainable goals that people want to achieve. Along with the changes and transformations experienced, there are significant differences in the working understanding and career expectations of individuals from different generations. While there are many studies in the literature that examine the differences between generations and the changing career understanding of generations, there is no study that examines the differences between generations in terms of gender. For this reason, in this thesis, it is aimed to contribute to the field by examining the career expectations of X and Y generation women. As a method in the research, a scanning model suitable for the purpose of the study was chosen. At the same time, the sample was studied considering the size of the universe. The research includes a total of 417 female participants from the X and Y generations. The "Career Expectations" scale, which was developed by the researcher and reviewed by expert faculty members in the field, was used in the research. The data obtained from the research were transferred to the SPSS 26 program package and analyzed. Keywords: Generation, Career, Career Expectation, Generation X, Generation Y
