Abstract (EN)

It is not possible to think independently of the society in which the artist lives. The artist, who is a member of the society, cannot completely isolate himself from social life, although he focuses on individual subjects. This is the case for all works of art it also applies to literary works. Divan poet, who is always accused of being in the realm of imagination, has not broken the connection with life. There are many elements of social life in divan texts which contain the majority of the material of this literary tradition. In this context, the poet did not hesitate to articulate the problems the faced around him.The poem written against a person, institution or community meets the concept of satire. While the problems are being criticized, a number of elements have been benefited. The beginning of these is literary arts and humor. Alongside the satires with aesthetic value there are also poems based on insult and slandering. With this study aimed to reveal a different aspect of XIX.century divan poetry. In this context, XIX. century divans were examined in the context of satire and social criticism. The resulting material was evaluated and classified and the satirical and social criticism side of the classical Turkish poetry of the last century was revealed.
