The administrative and socio-economic situation of Siirt sanjak in the second half of the XIX th century

In the second half of the XIX. century, the reform movement, which started with the declaration of the Tanzimat Edict, was put into practice in the provinces. In this period, a new order was tried to be established in the Ottoman State and various legislative works were organized and implemented accordingly. Siirt sancak has also been affected by these developments and various developments have occurred in the districts, especially the center of sub-provinces. The bureaucratic appointments made in this period, city life, social relations, cultural life and the developments that took place in Siirt, were examined especially by the archival documents and the yearbooks which has been formed by the state and the provinces in this period. In this study, the last century of Siirt in the Ottoman Empire was tried to be illuminated until the Republican period. Our study consists of three parts whit the introduction. At the introduction, the source and meaning of Siirt's name, the geography of Siirt and its historical process until its dominance by the Ottoman Empire, the administrative structure of Siirt in the first section, the Social life of Siirt in the second part and the economic life is discussed in the third part.
