XVIII. Century Divan Poet Mehmed Sıdki Esif and His Divan (Scrutiny-Text)

Esif was a sufi from the school of Rumi divan poet who lived in the first half of the XVIII. century. His real name was Mehmed. He was born in Tavşanlı in Kütahya and he lived there till the end of his life as a sheikh in his dervish convent.He wrote most of his poems under the pseudonym of Esif, but he preferred to use his other sign ?Sıdki? for a few works.Esif was a sufi poet. However, he was not extremely talented in the aspect of poetry. Being a Mevlevi aspect and sufism occupy a wide place in his poems.His only work is divan which is the subject of our own study is known as the single copy. There are a great deal of many spelling errors on the copy. The work contains 78 leaves and 187 poems.Our thesis is composed of three parts which are; Esif?s life, his literary personality and his works; the study of Esif Divan in the point of form, language and content; and divan?s text.In the first part, Esif?s life, his literary personality and his divan have been studied to be found out by the help of his own poems and by some other sources.In the second part, the metres and ryhmes, which are according to the verse forms in poems, have been tried to be evaluated and also the elements which are foregrounded with the content of divan have been tried to be evaluated one by using the samples of his poems.In the third part; the text of divan has been written through the transcription alphabet, in our study, the order of the poems in the single copy has not been changed, that?s because they were ordered according to the ryhmes in the original copy.Key Words: Esif, Sıdki, divan, text, Mevlevi
