Abstract (EN)

With the industrial revolution, a rapid migration from rural areas to cities started with the increase in population in the world. Situations such as dense construction and unplanned urbanization in cities have led to the need for more housing, roads, bridges, etc. The fact that concrete is the most widely used material in construction is the biggest factor in the deterioration of the natural environment. Today, the construction industry faces significant sustainability challenges due to its environmental impacts. In this context, the use of sustainable concrete is emerging as an important solution to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. Sustainable concrete is produced by using recycled materials, low-carbon binders and natural additives. Thus, raw material consumption is reduced and waste is recycled. This thesis discusses building construction systems, the place of concrete in the construction industry, the use of sustainable concrete in buildings and examines the economic, ecological and social advantages of sustainable concrete in detail. Alternative materials used in the production of sustainable concrete such as fly ash, waste water and recycled aggregates are explained. The structural advantages of sustainable concrete, such as energy efficiency and durability, as well as its cost analysis and long-term economic impacts, are discussed. The widespread use of sustainable concrete has the potential for significant change and environmental improvement in the construction industry. This thesis aims to promote the wider use of sustainable concrete.
