The Place in the serial novels of Yaşar Kemal

Yasar Kemal, one of the writers of the republican period, has works in genre of novels, stories, interviews, poems and compilations. Although he has produced many kinds of works in Turkish literature, he stands out with his novelism. He is one of the most significant representatives of the "Serial Novel" genre in Turkish literature with his serial novels. Especially in the trilogy and quaternary style of his novels, he tells the people, mass and nature of Çukurova region Yasar Kemal's main place of the novel Çukurova constitutes the region. In literary texts, one of the structural elements effective in the formation of the plot is place. Place is important in terms of understanding the psychology of novel characters as wlell as in the formation of the plot. When evaluated in the context, it can be said that novels are shaped together with the meaning that the author place on the space. In this study, Yaşar Kemal's novels were analysed as "serial novels". The analysis was based on the analysis of Şerif Aktaş's Literary Texts on the Basis of Narration- Theory and Practice) and the classifications in Nurullah Çetin's novel analysis method. Our study is consisted of three boots. In the first part, information about Yasar Kemal's novelisim is given. In second part, the functions which are used in the novel are evaluated.
